Why do you attend trade shows?

Is it to walk the exhibit hall and visit with vendors that provide products and services for your business?  EXPO 10.6.10 offers you and your staff (yes those who may never attend live events) the ability to meet vendors and association heads right from your desk.

Is it to learn about the latest trends impacting your industry by attending the sessions that you always miss at a live event or wish your staff heard but were not there?  EXPO 10.6.10 offers three high power webinars on key trends affecting ARM businesses.

Is it to gamble, run up ridiculous bar tabs and eat at 5-star restaurants?  Go for it.  I suppose these are all valid reasons for some of us to spend thousands of dollars and a few days away from your office.

Is it to hang out in the bars hoping to see old friends and perspective clients?  No virtual experience will ever replace a real bar scene.  Sorry. But…

You and I both know that the number one reason why we attend trade shows is to network.  That’s the main reason I attend more than a dozen shows a year.  Come on, admit it.   You are there hoping to run into prospective and current clients, talk to peers, friends, association heads and exhibitors.   We all want to talk to old friends and meet some new ones.

I often ask myself (yes I admit that I talk to myself), “Wouldn’t it be great to get all of the benefits of networking at a live event, no cost, and not have to leave my desk to do so?”  Until now, such an option did not exist.  Kaulkin Ginsberg will be hosting the first ever live, virtual networking lounge on Wednesday, October 6th during EXPO 10.6.10.

Some key advantages of the new Networking Lounge are:

  • Cost effective—free, free, free
  • Easy—network right from your desk and then go on with your day
  • Fast—pop in and pop out throughout the day
  • Efficient—talk to whom you want to talk to, not to those you don’t. Try doing that at a live event.
  • Topical – talk to the presenters who will be in the networking lounge after their presentations
  • Efficient (again)—connect with peers in the industry in one central place
  • Novelty—the Networking Lounge is a new feature of EXPO this fall… people like “new & improved things” and so are likely to check it out
  • Familiarity—You network at face to face shows, now you can easily network at EXPO

Here’s what you have to do to make this networking experience worthwhile for you and your staff.  Forward this blog to all of your industry contacts, especially your clients and prospects that you want to network with.  Don’t worry about them getting bombarded by competitors. The good news is that they can talk to whomever they want, not to those they don’t.  Try doing that at a live event!

Take full advantage of the first ever virtual networking lounge on October 6th.  Peak networking times in the lounge will be from 12:30pm to 1:30 (Eastern) and then again at 2:30. I hope to see you there. Tell everyone about it.  What do you have to lose?
