I was reading an old issue of Collector Mentor yesterday and came across this great company mission mentioned in an interview with Sandra Falcon, of the Iowa Student Loan Liquidity Corporation:

"Helping students obtain the financial resources needed to succeed in a post-secondary education."

I love this.  It’s positive, it’s specific.  It would clearly communicate to new employees what the company is trying to achieve.  And I’d think that if it was constantly reinforced internally, it would help get everyone up in the morning and come to work with a positive attitude, even though the work may be challenging.

How many of us have a compelling mission statement?  How many make it public — both internally and externally — and really use it to drive engagement and enthusiasm?  I bet there are lots of mission statements that demonstrate what the bulk of our industry is about.
