MALVERN, Penn. – Akcelerant, a provider of connected software technology to the financial services industry, announced today the successful completion of its third SAS70 Type II audit. In order to maintain a SAS70 Type II certification, Akcelerant is required to complete an audit of its operating policies on an annual basis. SAS 70 CPA, a licensed Certified Public Accounting Firm and one of the nation’s leading firms in this specialty, completed this year’s review, and the final report showed Akcelerant to be in compliance with SAS70 Type II standards.

During this year’s audit, a number of controls were tested in order to evaluate operational effectiveness including environment security, backup and recovery, computer operations, data communications, application development, and disaster recovery. In order to be in compliance with SAS70 Type II standards, as opposed to Type I, both the description and design of each control had to be evaluated. The audit results showed Akcelerant to be in compliance and stated there were no relevant exceptions to any of the controls.

“Despite rapid growth and new product offerings, Akcelerant has not forgotten about the importance of maintaining strong operating policies. As a matter of fact, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to increase operational efficiency and ensure data security. Remaining in compliance with SAS70 Type II standards instills confidence among our customers and is something Akcelerant is proud to have achieved for the third consecutive year,” states Emily Steele, Chief Operating Officer at Akcelerant.

SAS70 (Statement of Auditing Standards No. 70) is a formal auditing standard designed to test the internal controls of service organizations.  It was created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and has become increasingly more important due to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
