Debt collectors make an estimated 4 billion contacts every year.  So it’s not surprising that most of us are within a degree or two of separation of the receiving end.  

It’s easy to view faceless people who make these calls as the enemy.   But it’s not helpful to take that view because it typically leads to a shutdown in communication.  And shutting down a dialogue is rarely good.

Victoria Edwards, a professional with over 20 years experience in both consumer lending and collections, offers some anecdotes of her own to shed light on who the people are on the other side of those calls.
