Lawsuits filed against ARM companies claiming violations of the FDCPA and other consumer statutes dropped in the first two weeks of June compared to the second half of May.

There were about 502 lawsuits filed under consumer statutes in the first half of June 2011. Here is an approximate breakdown:

  • 442 FDCPA
  • 40 FCRA
  • 37 TILA
  • 2 TCPA

Summary:

  • Of those cases, there were about 559 unique plaintiffs (including multiple plaintiffs in one suit).
  • Of those plaintiffs, about 160 had sued under consumer statutes before.
  • Combined, those plaintiffs have filed about 1057 lawsuits since 2001
  • Actions were filed in 121 different US District Court branches.
  • About 500 different collection firms and creditors were sued.
