Although the ultimate job for all of their clients is to reach a reduction for them, going about that task is much different when negotiating medical claims. For this particular client, Account Executives had had to stay in constant communication with the patients, their families and employers. Emotions are high and they want immediate answers often. When speaking with these people American Finasco Account Executives have to be sympathetic to the situation they are in. Often they are dealing with daily harassment by the medical providers. The Provider has refused future services for medical conditions and their credit is jeopardized for the balances owed. Meanwhile they must be assured top customer service and have all questions answered so they are not trying to reach our client, only to be told to work with American Finasco, Inc.

When negotiating with a medical provider one has to convince the provider that it is not in their best interest or fair to begin collection activity against the patient. In addition to having them accept a settlement amount, they have to be willing to sign American Finasco’s medical release settlement, which binds the provider from releasing any of this settlement information to any party unless advised to by a court order, they must release the patient, their family members and all insurance companies from all liability. This is not always easy, as some of the patients have begun to make payments to the providers so that they are able to continue to see their physician. Once this happens it becomes even more difficult to convince the provider to take a settlement, versus waiting it out for the patient to pay them in full. Thus one must become very creative in negotiating to convince them to take a reduction and release the parties. These are all skills that American Finasco Account Executives are trained in and do on a daily basis.

The main differences in the negotiation of these claims were that this client’s claims were much older and there was little involvement with the individual

Patient. That particular company took on the responsibility of dealing with the employee. There is a very large difference when dealing with the company alone and dealing with the company and employees in this most recent situation.
