The DBA International Board of Directors is accepting applications from representatives of third party collection agencies who wish to be considered for a position on the Debt Buyer Certification Council (Council).  The Council is the 11-member governing body that administers the Debt Buyer Certification Program on behalf of the Board of Directors.  The Council is required to be composed of a cross representation of the broader collection industry, including one position representing the interests of third party agencies.

The Debt Buyer Certification Program consists of a company-based designation for companies operating as “debt buyers” and an individual-based designation for individuals who meet certain continuing education and background criteria. The Certification Program was approved by the DBA Membership in February 2013 after a Certification Task Force spent nearly a year in its development.  As of March 2013, DBA International has been accepting applications from those companies and individuals who wish to become certified.  DBA issued its first certifications in May 2013.

Applications from representatives of third party collection agencies interested in serving on the Council should be submitted to DBA International no later than the close of business on Monday, July 29, 2013 to ensure its consideration. Should you have any questions, please contact DBA International at 916-482-2462 or by email at cert@dbainternational.org.

DBA International (DBA) is the nonprofit trade association that represents the interests of companies that acquire distressed asset portfolios on the secondary market. DBA promotes uniform industry standards of best practices through the newly launched Debt Buyer Certification Program and through a code of conduct – adherences to both are required for DBA membership.  DBA is headquartered in Sacramento, CA.
