NCO Group, Inc., a leading global provider of best-in-class business process outsourcing solutions, recently announced that NCO subsidiary NCO Customer Management, Inc. has launched a Community Technology Center (CTC) facilitated by Microsoft in Panama City, Panama.

The purpose of the CTC is to strengthen the local community through digital inclusion initiatives and innovation.  As a part of a global program, the effort focuses on narrowing the technology skills gap, aiding global workforce development, and creating social and economic opportunity by providing technology skills training.  The center began operations at the end of January.

The CTC provides individuals an opportunity to receive free technology skills training and a chance to earn a Microsoft Digital Literacy certificate.  The goal is to provide access for people of all ages and abilities to learn about computers, use the Internet, explore career opportunities, further their education, participate in community activities, and develop job-related technology skills. The NCO site features state-of-the-art computer equipment, peripherals, and connectivity.  A team of NCO volunteers leads the classes using a highly successful, technology-intensive digital literacy curriculum designed by Microsoft.

Commenting on this launch, NCO Vice President of CRM Solutions Bryan Gray stated, “We are truly excited about this initiative. We believe that the CTC is a tremendous opportunity to give back to the community and fits well within NCO’s corporate mission to educate and support regions of the world that directly contribute to our organizational success.”

Added Microsoft Corporation Program representative Tim Hopper, “This CTC will help bridge the digital divide by providing the basic computing skills necessary for global citizens in the twenty-first century.  NCO’s generosity and commitment to Panama reflects our shared values. We look forward to the continued cooperation between our organizations.”
