MedAssets, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDAS) announced today that MedAssets Supply Chain Systems, a MedAssets company, and the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association (AzHHA) have entered into an agreement that marks AzHHA’s first affiliation with a revenue cycle and spend management services provider, including its first group purchasing organization (GPO) affiliation.

AzHHA’s agreement with MedAssets is focused on helping to improve the financial performance of any of the 108 hospitals within AzHHA’s service corporation by implementing integrated spend management and revenue cycle solutions that help control cost, improve margins and cash flow, increase regulatory compliance, and optimize operational efficiency.

The affiliation will allow AzHHA to provide its member facilities access to a larger health care contract portfolio with greater savings, expanded pharmacy services including audit and analytical capabilities, and an enhanced selection of products and services that can be viewed using MedAssets’ online contract catalog, CDQuick®. Additionally, the agreement includes access to cost management programs as well as clinical and supply chain consulting services.

This affiliation also equips AzHHA with access to MedAssets’ suite of revenue management solutions, designed to help with all aspects of the hospital revenue cycle workflow including the unique linkage of the supply item file to the chargemaster, patient bill estimation and point-of-service collection programs, claims, remittance and contract management, silent PPO recovery, concurrent and retrospective denial management, accounts receivable services, charge capture, defensible pricing, and decision support technology.

“AzHHA is continually seeking tools and services to support member hospitals and promote quality healthcare in our state. This partnership could be extremely significant to Arizona’s hospital community and, ultimately, the people they serve,” said Jim Haynes, AzHHA’s vice president of Finance. “MedAssets offers tools that have a high ROI. All of our facilities – both large and small – can benefit from technology that increases efficiency, reduces errors and improves the bottom line.”

MedAssets’ mission is to improve the financial health of healthcare providers so they can continue to provide the highest quality of care in their communities.
