Only nine months after opening an office in Western New York, accounts receivable management firm Windham Professionals has plans to expand its business, adding up to 140 jobs in the state.

Empire State Development Corporation (ESD), a government agency that encourages business growth in New York, announced Tuesday that Windham’s $2.3 million expansion will be partially financed with a $280,000 grant from the ESD.

According to a press release, Windham will train employees and purchase and install new equipment and machinery for its East Aurora office, which now employs 60 workers.

Attempts to reach Windham were unsuccessful.

Founded in 1982, Windham is a nationally licensed, full-service collection agency for the educational, commercial, government and health-care sectors. Additional services include skip tracing and asset/liability searches, as well as credit bureau reporting and litigation services.

Windham is headquartered in Salem, N.H., and has other offices located throughout the country, including Massachusetts, Tennessee, Nevada and New Hampshire. The company is authorized to collect in all 50 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico and also provides international collection services.

Windham opened an office in New York at the beginning of this year.

“Windham Professionals first established a presence in Western New York only nine months ago, this past January. I am quite pleased that, as the company was faced with a decision on where to expand its operations, Windham chose East Aurora over other regions in which it has an established presence,” said Governor David A. Paterson in a press release.
