Elk Grove Village, Ill. – Over 1400 of Chicago’s top business executives and political leaders from all manner of companies and levels of government gathered in the ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Wacker in Chicago for the 106th Annual Meeting of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce on June 8.  One of those attending for the first time was the President of Credit Decisions International, Ltd., Mr. Lou Figueroa.

The keynote address was given by Alan Mulally, the President and CEO of Ford Motor Company who spoke about the challenges he faced when taking over at Ford and the progress which the company has made as it moves into the future and using a laser-focus to provide the best product to the consumer.

Other speakers who spoke of meeting the challenges of business in today’s economy and how to partner with government included Paul LaSchiazza (AT&T), Joseph Gregoire (PNC Bank) and Glenn Tilton (United Airlines’ President and CEO).  Mayor Daley spoke about the importance of working with companies to keep jobs in Chicago and his dedication to help the business community to prosper.  He also urged those in the business community to reach out and get to know their elected officials since they are also responsible to see that business succeeds.

"It was a wonderfully positive experience to hear how both business and government can work together to improve not just business, but peoples’ lives” stated CDI President, Lou Figueroa commenting on the address by Chicago’s Mayor Richard M. Daley and remarks made by the outgoing Chairman James Tyree of Mesirow Financial and incoming Chair, Deborah DeHaas of Deloitte LLP.  Lou Figueroa also commented, “I was especially moved by the invocation of Monsignor Kenneth Velo of DePaul who reminded us all to appreciate the meal we were all able to enjoy today but to be sure and share our bread with those who have not eaten as his reminder that our obligations in business go beyond just profit”
