Merchants Credit Adjusters, Inc. (MCA) received the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Integrity Award at an award ceremony at Embassy Suites Hotel in La Vista, NE on Thursday, September 15, 2011. These awards focus on demonstrated ethical business practices with key stakeholders including customers, employees and community at large, rather than a company’s growth, profitability or popularity. The Integrity Award Winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges consisting of Omaha business leaders and members of the academic community.

“The BBB Integrity Award Winners have shown that ethics and integrity are core values of their organization,” said Jim Hegarty, president and chief executive officer, of the Better Business Bureau, Inc. serving Nebraska, South Dakota and southwest Iowa. “The 2011 BBB Integrity Award Winners join an elite group of organizations that realize dealing fairly and honestly with employees, customers and partners are central to profitability and growth. They serve as role models for the business community in Omaha, and the Better Business Bureau Foundation is pleased to honor them with this prestigious award. ”

President and Owner David Truckenbrod was incredibly honored to receive this Integrity Award from the BBB.  He knows it is recognition of a company wide effort towards our continuous goal of creating an ethical climate within the company and acting at all times with integrity.  “MCA has been in business over 91 years and although our core values have evolved they certainly haven’t changed.  It begins with a commitment to exceed people’s expectations without ever sacrificing integrity.  We will always act with honesty, fairness, and compassion.  Integrity in its simplest terms is moral soundness, we are who we say we are and we will always act in the highest ethical standards,” said Truckenbrod.

Merchants Credit Adjusters was established by William Keebler in 1919 under the name of Merchants Credit Rating Bureau and it wasn’t uncommon to receive payment in product or service in lieu of money.  While technology and the laws that govern the collection industry have changed, what was true in 1919 is still true today.  Successful collection strategies will always be designed around people working with people.
