The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) recently reviewed the NCO Healthcare Services using the Peer Review Process. After undergoing the rigorous review, Eligibility Patient Advocacy Liaison Services (EPALS), Extended Office Services (EOS) and Bad Debt and Legal Recovery Services from NCO Healthcare Services have been granted the “Peer Reviewed by HFMA®” designation.

Eligibility Patient Advocacy Liaison Services (EPALS)

NCO’s EPALS provides primary eligibility assistance services for uninsured and underinsured patients that may be eligible for Medicaid, Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, Victim of Crime and other available third-party programs.

Extended Office Services (EOS)

NCO provides an offsite extension of a provider’s business office to manage your active receivables. These include providing all appropriate billing, re-billing, and follow-up activities for all financial classes at any age of placement. This integrated billing and follow-up ensures rapid recovery of outstanding accounts.

Bad Debt and Legal Recovery Services

When a provider’s internal efforts are exhausted, NCO’s Bad Debt Recovery Services program resolves delinquent receivables by working as a third-party collector while maintaining the utmost respect for the patient population. NCO also have well-established relationships with attorneys in all 50 states and use this nationwide network when pursuing accounts that require litigation.

“To be recognized by HFMA in this regard is an outstanding accomplishment for NCO. We are truly honored to receive this distinction from the HFMA Peer Review Process,” stated Steven Leckerman, EVP and Chief Operating Officer of NCO Group, Inc. “This evaluation illustrates the success of these services and commitment to our clients. We look forward to continuing to support our clients through innovative healthcare revenue cycle management solutions, backed by our committed employees across the NCO enterprise.”

The Peer Review Process validates the accuracy, effectiveness, quality and value of products and services that HFMA members are currently using. The goal of the review is to identify products and services that deliver organizational savings and performance improvement which enhance HFMA members’ day-to-day business interactions and careers.

“For years HFMA members have asked us to identify viable healthcare finance resources and to filter some of the noise in the market place,” says HFMA President and CEO Richard L. Clarke, FHFMA. “We see the HFMA Peer Review process as a powerful opportunity to do just that.”

Criteria for a product or service to display the HFMA Peer Review mark include high survey scores for:

  • Enhanced productivity for the individual user and for the customer’s organization
  • Ease of installation and use
  • Accuracy and reliability
  • Good value for the price
  • Excellent technical support and customer service
