Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. (WWR) is excited to announce it has been recognized as 2010 “Green Certified” by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA). This is the second time WWR has received certification as part of the ongoing CMBA Green Initiative to help lessen the legal profession’s impact on the environment.

The CMBA’s Green Initiative and Green Initiative Committee (GIC) was first announced by 2008-09 President Michael E. Brittain. The purpose of the GIC is to promote environmentally responsible programs (“green practices”) for adoption by law firms, small law offices/solo practitioners, and the CMBA itself. The CMBA Green Initiative Committee endeavors to promote its own suggested Green Practices to Cleveland firms in an effort to lessen the cumulative effects on the environment. The Green Certification Program is the center stone of the initiative. The CMBA certifies participating firms/offices as Green that can demonstrate they are in compliance with the established certification criteria.

Timothy R. Corman, Chief Operating Officer of WWR, says “We are very proud to be a part of this important initiative. At WWR, we continue to develop our green practices with better recycling, new “less paper” programs, more electronic file storage and scanning, along with investments in energy saving technologies.  We are committed to this effort and are continuously looking for more ways we can show our support for the preservation of our environment.”  To oversee this program and generally encourage environmentally-friendly practices throughout the Firm, Karen Witmer, Director of Operations, has been designated as the WWR Green Administrator.

The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA) is a nonprofit organization, operating as a center for legal professionalism in the region and promoting the highest ethical and professionalism standards. It was formed in March 2008 by the consolidation of the Cleveland Bar and Cuyahoga County Bar Associations, which brought together more than 135 years of rich history. Its vision is to advance the greater Cleveland legal community as a world-class center of professional excellence and model of community service.
