Allan Jones, VP of Sales and Marketing for Shaffer & Associates of Columbia, Mo., has been elected President of the Missouri Collectors Association (MCA), the Missouri Unit of ACA International, the Association of Credit & Collection Professionals.  Jones has served on the board of the MCA for several years, the last two as a Vice President.

All 65 member firms of the MCA have agreed to adhere to the ACA’s code of ethics, and play a role in returning over $40 billion nationwide to creditors on an annual basis.

Jones said of his new position, “It seems that we are always fighting some sort of a battle – either debtors, their attorneys, the press or the legislatures.  Those of us who care about this industry simply take turns leading the charge and, considering my predecessors in this position, I have some rather large shoes to fill.  We all want creditors’ money returned to them, but MCA and ACA members insist that it be done in a legal and ethical manner.”

“Our industry is under fire,” added Jones, “largely through misinformation and the actions of a few bad apples.  The largest challenge facing us in the coming year is to educate both the public and the press as to the value we contribute to the economy.”

Jones is a graduate of Missouri Valley College, and a member of the Rotary Club of Marshall, Missouri, where he and his wife Kimberly reside. They have two children, both of whom will be enrolled in college in Springfield, MO, this fall.
