St. Paul, MN – I.C. System, one of America’s largest privately owned accounts receivable management firms, announced it has won a 2010 Collection Technology Excellence Award.  The Collection Technology Excellence Awards recognize companies that have gone above and beyond to further collection technology.  The award stems from I.C. System’s development of a state-of-the-art collections system, Intelligent Collections Engine (ICE™), which the company launched in early 2009.

Ken Rapp, I.C. System’s President, said the idea for ICE™ originated more than two years ago out of necessity. “Due to rapid business growth, we found ourselves using multiple systems and therefore dealing with some operational inefficiencies,” Rapp said.  “However, an immeasurable benefit from the experience was that we became very aware of each system’s best features and therefore knew the many, specific capabilities we required in one new system.  When we realized there wasn’t a single system on the market that could do everything we wanted, we began building our own.”

According to Rapp, ICE™ has more than exceeded the system’s core requirements…that it be very user-friendly, require very little training and ramp-up time, be scalable, easily interface with accounting and CRM software, and provide unprecedented compliance and analytic capabilities.  “Our team truly built a one-of-a-kind collections system that’s unmatched in the marketplace,” he said.

Tom Emms, I.C. System’s Vice President/Chief Information Officer, led the many programmers and developers that equipped ICE™ with cutting-edge tools and functionality.  He said the teams focused on making sure that ICE™ end-users would have full system control and on ensuring ICE™ would offer access to an abundance of data.

“ICE™ gives our personnel the power to quickly and easily make an endless number of system changes, from high-level collection workflows down to a client’s individual debts, without developer involvement…which significantly reduces operating costs,” Emms said.  “Additionally, there’s so much data within ICE™ and it can all be accessed at a granular level; that combination allows for analysis leading to efficiency and effectiveness gains simply not attainable in other systems.”

Next Steps

According to Rapp, I.C. System has already received inquiries about the availability of ICE™. “We are considering making ICE™ available in a service mode to credit grantors for their internal collections,” he said. “We’d provide the equipment, software and IT support with no capital expense.”
