American Profit Recovery, a collection agency in Massachusetts with additional offices in Michigan and North Carolina, has spent this past summer raising money for a whole host of charities with their “Summer Charities of Choice” program.

The staff of this collection agency spent most of their summer thinking up ways to raise money in-house and at the end of the summer, raised close to $3,000 for a number of charities. The organizations benefiting from the funds raised were all nominated by American Profit Recovery employees. While the collection agency embraces many charitable initiatives during the year, this is a chance for all employees to make sure their charity of choice gets money for their mission.

Charities of Choice, conceived by staff and ownership has been such a success that it has taken on a life of its own including its own identity and a new logo for all to rally around and indentify with the program.

This year, eleven organizations will receive funds from the Summer Charities of Choice program including;  The Junior League of Boston, MS Foundation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society , The Dream Center (Detroit, MI), Ernest Thompson Memorial Fund, MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, Joann M Sullivan Memorial Fund, The Nature Conservancy, Muscular Dystrophy Association , Azure Lodge AF & AM and Kaplan Hospice House. All these organization were nominated by the staff of American Profit Recovery.

Money was raised in a number of ways including paying for the privilege to dress casual in the office, a company-wide bowling night and raffling off company parking spaces. In the past, employees have held bake sales in the office and other fun and engaging ways to raise money.

“We get involved in a number of company-wide charitable efforts during the course of the year but our Summer Charities of Choice is a great way for our team to tell us what organizations matter most to them,” states Jeff DiMatteo, a partner at American Profit Recovery. “The program gets them involved in the entire process of giving back and it fosters camaraderie in the workplace.”

The next big community effort for the collection agency is getting involved in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks in Boston and Howell Michigan. This is the largest charitable event American Profit Recovery takes part in. Over the past several years, the company has raised over $50,000 for the cause.
