Fort Mill, S.C. – PCI Group Inc., one of the nation’s leading providers of rapid outbound direct mail services, announced its successful completion of a third-party evaluation of compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Rule.
The HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules strictly dictate the parameters within which identifiable protected health information (PHI) can be shared. The HIPAA Security Rule defines standards for protecting electronic PHI (ePHI) with detailed attention to how it is stored, accessed, transmitted, and audited.
PCI Group, as a service provider, engages in HIPAA covered functions when processing PHI transmitted from its clients. Physical, technical and administrative controls have been implemented across the enterprise so that HIPAA compliance is maintained when PHI data is processed. The company’s applications and systems are capable of handling high volumes of ePHI on a daily basis, as well as other types of sensitive information such as cardholder data, bank statements and other financial records. As a result, PCI Group has had previous extensive risk assessment activities performed internally and by outside consultants.
PCI Group President, Chris Kropac, stated, “It is an exciting time at PCI. Our company’s growth and evolution is a direct result of the relationship we have with our customers. As a result of our ongoing Risk Management Program and implementation of standards required by SAS 70, SSAE 16, PCI DSS, HIPAA, and FISMA, PCI Group remains one of the industry’s most trusted and relied upon resources and we are committed to raising the bar as we move forward.”
PCI Group’s commitment to the industry’s highest standards is evident in its state-of-the-art technologies and innovations which deliver even greater value to its clients. An industry leader in data security, PCI Group also is SAS70 Type II and PCI DSS compliant and is currently pursuing FISMA compliance.
