Information We Collect and How We Use It
When using our website, you should understand that we routinely collect certain information about use of our website (described below). Also, by: accessing certain areas of the site requiring registration, receiving our electronic newsletters, participating in the Job board, submitting news or information to our editors, commenting on online content, making a purchase in our Store, downloading a whitepaper, submitting an electronic form requesting more information from an advertiser, or by clicking on a link in our website prompting you to contact us and sending us an electronic mail message, you may provide us with personal information about you or through which you may be identified (“Personal Information”). This statement applies to information we learn about you by any of these methods.
Website Use Information
insideARM collects information about the use of our site, including the aggregate number of page views on our site, and the aggregate number of unique visitors to the site. We may also collect the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet; the IP address of the computer you are using; the browser and operating system you are using, and their configuration; the date and time you access the site; the files you download from our site; the sequence of pages on our site you view, the path through which you navigate our site; the Internet address of the website from which you linked to the site; and whether you have enabled certain features, including cookies and Java script. (“Website Use Information”).
We collect and analyze Website Use Information to determine how our website is used, including, among other things, which pages users visit, how long they stay, from what sites or servers visitors to our site come, etc. We collect and maintain this information on an aggregate, anonymous basis only, meaning that we do not associate Personal Information about you or your identity with this information. We also use the information to help us find and fix any technical problems, to measure the level of traffic on our site, to determine the usefulness of our site, and to improve it. We may also provide Website Use Information to third parties, such as advertisers and marketing firms, but again, in aggregate, anonymous form only.
When errors occur, insideARM captures information about the user’s environment and activity as of the time of the error. Information acquired at such times includes information sent by the user’s browser, such as the browser type and the referring page, as well as the user’s identity based his or her own registration for the site. We use this type of information to detect and resolve technical problems, and to improve the functioning of our site.
Information Regarding Advertising
Although insideARM derives much of its revenue from sponsorships and advertising, we do not share information about a user’s click streams or other behavior with advertisers. With regard to advertisements, we track a tally of page views per ad, and may share that information with advertisers or prospective advertisers. The only exception to this is in the event that a user proactively submits an electronic lead form to a particular advertiser. In this case, we will share only the information that the user includes on the form.
Also, insideARM gathers information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions. These are voluntary submissions: to register for the site, receive our electronic newsletters or alerts, post a resume or job advertisement, submit news or information to our editors, participate in the Forum, make a purchase from our Store, attend a virtual event or webinar, submit an electronic mail message from the Contact Us page, or participate in polls and surveys. Users who do not choose to register for insideARM, or use these services, may remain completely anonymous.
insideARM uses any information voluntarily given by our users to enhance their experience in our site, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the sites or to better prepare future content based on the interests of our users. We use Personal Information provided by users in order to send out electronic newsletters and to enable users to participate in our interactive services. insideARM will never share newsletter mailing lists with any third parties, including advertisers, sponsors or partners, except in the following particular cases: 1) As part of a business consolidation or acquisition, 2) To comply with applicable law or valid legal process, 3) To protect the personal safety of our users or the public, 4) In the specific instance that a user has requested to subscribe to a publication or to receive further information about a product or service by submitting an electronic lead form, or 5) In the specific instance that a user enters an exhibitor’s virtual booth, attends a sponsored webinar or event, or downloads a sponsored whitepaper.
Users who supply Personal Information are given the means to access such information, and correct any inaccuracies.
Opt-Out Policy. We give users options to avoid sharing Personal Information where necessary and practical. Such choices include:
- Opting not to register to receive our electronic newsletters.
- Opting not to participate in certain interactive areas, which eliminates the need to gather any Personal Information from our users
Please understand that information transmitted over the Internet traverses private and public computer and telecommunications networks with varying levels of security. Generally, unencrypted e-mail and information exchanged in a “non-secure session” is not secure. In certain cases, you may be prompted to provide personal information necessary to process your request, and we may use an encrypted form to establish a “secure session” using a “Secure Socket Layer,” to help protect the confidentiality of such information. We will identify such secure sessions, to help you know when this type of protection is being used. Also, your browser may have features that will help you distinguish a secure session from an unencrypted session. While we have implemented reasonable security measures to prevent unauthorized access to, and unauthorized disclosure, loss or alteration of information received via our website, and intend to continue to improve these measures as technology advances, we cannot guarantee the confidentiality of any communication, information, or material transmitted to or from our website, and will not be liable or responsible for any such access or disclosure, loss or alteration.
