Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) has become a buzzword since the FTC’s Amended Safeguards Rule went into effect in June. Since the implementation of the Safeguards Rule several companies have had to overcome challenges with clients requiring the MFA process to include an authenticator app on employee cell phones which conflicts with ARM companies’ no cell phone on the collection floor policies.
One of our peer members stated that a client is requiring them to utilize Cisco DUO to comply with MFA requirements, however this requires the DUO app to be downloaded on each employee’s phone.
Thankfully, several of our members had some great feedback on the issues this requirement creates:
-
One member shared that they purchased several TracFone’s to maintain the Duo Authenticator app for collectors.
-
Another member mentioned that they were able to obtain non-phone DUO equipment to manage this.
Regardless of how you manage your MFA requirements it’s important to know there are several options available to comply with these changes.
