As we close out the year, we’ve looked at all we accomplished in 2023 and are looking at new ways to help our members operationally modernize their organizations and continue to work through compliance risk management in 2024.

Here are some of the things we have planned for 2024:

Workshops

Workshop style discussions will take place the 3rd Monday during the first 20-25 minutes of our regularly scheduled Peer Call. From our discussions with you, we’ve identified two topics that are pressing and important, but difficult to manage alone. Rather than discussing these topics ad hoc, we thought a workshop would be a great way to bring Research Assistant members together to compile appropriate, protective policies and procedures.

We encourage all members to join us during these RA Monthly Workshops so you can participate in the conversation, add suggestions, and help shape the final product.

Here are the workshops we have planned:

February – June 2024: Cybersecurity Incident Response Workshop

A robust, complete, and modern cybersecurity and incident response is a must for all ARM industry organizations. Many disaster recovery policies do not cover the unique threat posed by ransomware and other cyber attacks. In this workshop we will discuss the multitude of cybersecurity events and how companies of all sizes should respond to them to ensure compliance with the FTC’s Safeguards Rules, state laws, and client agreements. We’ll kickoff the workshop in February and our goal is to establish a robust Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan for your company to add to your Disaster Recovery Plan or use as a standalone procedure by June 2024.

July – November 2024 – Credit Reporting Workshop

In July we’ll pivot to our Credit Reporting Workshop.  This workshop will focus on all aspects of a data furnisher’s responsibility and draft an FAQ/Best practices document that members can embed in their procedures or use for training. We’ll do deep dives into requirements and work together to come up with solutions that meet the challenges of today.

Quarterly State Law Updates

Staying up-to-date on state laws is no small feat. Well the Research Assistant Team is here to make that a bit easier. On the last Monday of each quarter we will dedicate some time during our weekly peer call to address all the state law updates from the past 3 months. This will also become an updated shared resource on the Research Assistant website.

Quarterly Webinars

Missy Meggision and Sara Woggerman will continue to host our Research Assistant Webinar Series in 2024. Stay tuned for those details in the first quarter.

We want to thank all our Research Assistant Members for your participation in this collaborative group. We’ve had some insightful and innovative discussion this year with the increased popularity of generative artificial intelligence skyrocketing in use and sophistication to leveraging technology to reach consumers in non-traditional communication channels. We sincerely appreciate you and all you bring to this amazing group of professionals.

Happy Holidays Research Assistant Members, See you in the New Year!
