News in the ARM industry never stops and determining what’s truly relevant can be a challenge. That’s where insideARM’s weekly recap comes in. Our weekly recap of top stories will give you the news we found most interesting last week and, more importantly, why we think it’s relevant. Last week, we brought you news about Oklahoma’s new Privacy Law, a NYDFS proposal regarding BNPL, and insights about the CFPB’s complaint portal changes and what they may or may not mean.

On Tuesday, we published insights from Maurice Wutscher regarding Oklahoma’s new Privacy Law. Privacy laws are an emerging area, and each state seems to have its own definitions, requirements, and applications. Though ultimately these laws may not apply to ARM industry participants, it’s important to review each of these laws as they emerge to determine whether your organization or your clients fit within the scope.

On Wednesday, we brought you details from Venable about NYDFS comprehensive rules for BNPL loans. BNPL accounts are growing in collections. It’s important to understand how these rules will affect BNPL clients (or future clients!) to ensure your organization handles collection of these accounts appropriately.

On Thursday, we brought you insights from Bridgeforce regarding recent updates to the CFPB’s complaint portal and what those updates might or might not mean. This piece walks through what’s changed and what hasn’t and provides insights as to what those changes mean for ARM industry participants. This article is a good read for anyone trying to assess whether the CPFB portal changes should lead to material changes in procedures.
