There’s always something new on the horizon in the ARM industry but sorting through what’s truly relevant and why can be a challenge. That’s where insideARM’s weekly recap comes in. Our weekly recap of top stories will give you the news we found most interesting last week and, more importantly, why we think it’s relevant. Last week, we brought you a podcast that explains the ‘right to cure’ traps out there, news on former CFPB director Rohit Chopra’s new endeavor, and the CFPB’s 2026 plans and ‘Humility Pledge’ for examinations.
On Tuesday, we brought you a podcast from Rossman Kirk that addresses state law ‘right to cure’ requirements, recent case law, and risks to debt collectors. The conversation also clears confusion by highlighting the 14 jurisdictions that require a right to cure notice. This 8.5-minute podcast is a must listen to for anyone collecting in right to cure states (and those that want to be sure they aren’t!).
On Wednesday, we published news and insights from Troutman Pepper Locke regarding former CFPB Director Rohit Chopra’s new role, leading a consumer protection group for blue-state AGs. Throughout 2025, industry stakeholders have been closely monitoring state-level legal and regulatory developments. This move continues to tell that story; and with Mr. Chopra’s record, this new endeavor might be pivotal.
On Thursday, we brought you news from Orrick regarding the CFPB’s 2026 examination cycle and its newly updated “Humility Pledge.” We’ve watched the CFPB weaken and shift priorities over the course of the year. This news provides some insight into what we can expect in 2026.
Speaking of 2026- this is our last weekly recap of 2025. From all of us on the insideARM team, we wish you happy holidays and a happy new year, and we look forward to bringing you news and analysis in 2026.
