News in the ARM industry never stops. There’s not enough time to read everything, every day, and it can be tough to figure out what’s truly relevant. That’s where insideARM’s weekly recap comes in. Our weekly recap of top stories will give you the news we found most interesting last week and more importantly- why we think it’s relevant. Last week we brought you news about California’s attempt to fill the shoes of the CFPB, a Virginia artificial intelligence bill that is no more, and the FCC’s delay of a rule regarding consent revocation.

On Tuesday we brought you details from Troutman Pepper Locke regarding California’s attempt to fill the void created by the weakening of the CFPB. In response to the reduction in federal oversight, California has introduced legislation to enhance its consumer protection laws. As the CFPB is weakened, industry experts have cautioned that states will step up ultimately creating a patchwork of inconsistent regulations. California wasted no time in being first to the plate and those in the ARM industry should be paying attention.

On Wednesday we brought you news from Maurice Wutscher regarding the Virginia Governor’s veto of an artificial intelligence bill. ARM industry participants and their clients have been keeping a watchful eye on how state law and rule makers address growing AI technology. Though eager to implement technology, no one wants to invest in solutions that ultimately may prove unworkable due to regulations. Those interested in the AI landscape should take note of this development.

On Thursday we brought you an update on FCC rules from TrueAccord. Though the FCC has delayed the effective date of its consent revocation rule, two other FCC orders related to automated telephone dialing systems (ATDS) have gone into effect. The FCC will still accept comments on all three rules. Anyone in the ARM industry utilizing an ATDS should be sure to stay on top of the FCCs rules and consider submitting comments.
