On March 13, 2014, ACPAC, ACA International’s political action committee, welcomed Rep. Lynn Westmoreland (R-Ga.) to the association’s Washington, D.C., office in support of his reelection campaign.

Westmoreland was first elected to the U. S. House of Representatives in 2004 after serving in the Georgia State House for 12 years. In the 113th Congress, Westmoreland is a senior member of the powerful House Financial Services Committee.

The congressman has developed a reputation for fighting for lower taxes and smaller government. He believes it is important that his constituents are represented by a conservative and free market voice.

There is no more effective way to cement a good relationship with a lawmaker or potential lawmaker than to participate in his or her election or re-election campaign. Fundraisers are critical to raise the much-needed resources to fund a political campaign. ACPAC fundraisers help provide our members and ACA’s government affairs staff with an excellent opportunity to introduce lawmakers to the critical issues facing the credit and collection industry.

Special thanks to Phil Rosenthal, president of Nationwide Credit Corporation, for representing the industry at the fundraiser in support of the Westmoreland campaign.

While the year ahead promises many challenges for the industry, ACA’s government affairs team has been making huge strides in highlighting the important work of the credit and collection industry to lawmakers in Washington, D.C., and across the country. We look forward to working with the membership to continue to deliver the message about the positive economic impact and job opportunities our members provide.
