Aktiv Kapital Signs Major Debt Buying Deal in Spain

Aktiv Kapital has today signed a contract with an international financial institution acquiring a non- and semi-performing portfolio in Spain with a face value in excess of €350 million. The portfolio consists of approx. 70,000 accounts. The purchase represents the single largest investment in Aktiv Kapital since 2008.

“The purchase confirms our strategy of maintaining and reinforcing our position as the leading investor in the non-performing loan industry in our markets. The purchase proves our willingness and financial capability to invest in large sub- and non-performing portfolios. The agreement is a result of a longstanding relationship of our Spanish colleagues, and we believe this is the beginning of an attractive partnership for both parties,” says Erik Oyno, President and CEO of Aktiv Kapital.

He continues: “The portfolio is already generating cash-flow and we see great potential because of the payer base and attractive average face value. This kind of portfolio fits well with our collection experience and performance on financial accounts which in the Spanish financial downturn have performed better than accounts originated by non financial institutions.
