ACA Publishes Debt Buying Primer

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – ACA International, the association of credit and collection professionals, will release next week a new publication on debt purchasing. ?Buying Receivables? is a primer on entering and succeeding in the debt buying market. Edited by members of ACA?s Asset Buyers Program (ABP), the manual covers all aspects of purchasing debt, from the initial financing to the due diligence questions needed to analyze a desired portfolio.

?This manual should be the first read for anyone considering investing in or participating with others who want to be involved in the asset buying industry,? said ABP Committee member Gobind Sahney. Chapters include information on: Benefits to buyers and sellers; The portfolio purchasing process; Considerations when purchasing debt; Valuing accounts; Reselling; Alternate collection techniques; Attorney involvement; Managing risks; and Financing.

?With the explosive growth of the debt purchasing field since our last update, this manual is a must-have for buyers, sellers and brokers in today?s market,? said Ted Smith, ACA Vice President of Programs. The previous version of the manual was released in 1997.

?Buying Receivables? is available to both members and non-members of ACA. For more information on this manual or the Asset Buyers Program, contact the ABP staff at (952) 928-8000 ext. 111, or by email abp@acainternational.org.
