ACA International Members Meet the Association?s Charity Challenge

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Since 1992, members of ACA International, the association of credit and collection professionals, have joined in Charity Challenge, an annual drive that encourages industry professionals to benefit various national and local charities of their choice. Over the past three years, member companies have donated nearly $240,000 and thousands of employees have given of their time.

Charity Challenge, formerly known as Collectors Challenge, reflects the concerns and values of our membership through giving financially and personally to causes in which they believe. The month-long campaign encourages members to participate in fund-raising drives or host their own special event.

From Santa Barbara, Calif., to Somerville, N.J., this year?s events raised over $24,000.

Wanderer & Wanderer, a Las Vegas law firm, participated in a walk for the University of Nevada-Las Vegas? Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Eighteen Wanderer staff members, including Mary Ann Lamecker, enjoyed being outdoors in the beautiful weather and scenery. ?Most of all, we enjoyed helping to find a cure so that someday no one will suffer from juvenile diabetes,? said Lamecker.

Jan Cox joined coworkers at Professional Credit Collections, Inc. of Jenks, Okla., in supporting the John 3:16 Mission and the Tulsa Zoo Friends. ?Our whole staff is going to make special, day-long visits to both the zoo and the John 3:16 Mission to experience firsthand the causes we?ve benefited,? said Cox.

PCC collector David Jernigan found a unique way to support the Tulsa Zoo ? Jernigan is also an artist and donated design work for sweatshirts to be sold by the zoo to raise money for expansion projects. The agency has even adopted zoo residents as office mascots. When employees reach goals they are given animal figurines as prizes. These are just a few of the ways collectors give back to their communities. Collection agencies play a vital role in their local economies every day, and through Charity Challenge they also play an important role in bringing hope and wellness to their communities.
