Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. Attorneys Certified As Creditors? Rights Specialists

Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. is pleased to announce that two of its partners have met the standards to continue to hold the designation of creditors? rights specialists.

Alan Weinberg and Rosemary Taft-Milby continue to satisfy the requirements for certification in creditors? rights law. Both attorneys were initially certified in 1997. The American Board of Certification, a co-sponsorship between the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Commercial Law League of America, sponsors the certification.

Certification as a creditors? rights attorney recognizes the attorneys that emphasizes creditor representation in their practice and have attained the practice requirements and educational requirements to be certified as a specialist.

To become eligible, one must complete a variety of requirements. He or she must:

Be in full time practice of law for at least five years; Have good standing in the bars of all states in which a license to practice law is held; Devote at least 30% of practice time and at least 400 hours to creditors? rights related matters since his/her initial certification; Documented involvement in creditors? rights by providing information on cases practiced; and Demonstrate commitment to continuing legal education by earning at least 36 hours of creditors? rights related education in the past three years.

Alan Weinberg, the firm?s managing partner, concentrates on Litigation and Defense in the Cleveland office of Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. He received a BA in Mathematics, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Boston University in 1971 and a JD from Case Western Reserve University in 1974. A member of the Ohio and Cleveland Bar associations, Mr. Weinberg is licensed in Ohio, and is admitted to practice before the US District Court (Northern District of OH), and the US Supreme Court. Mr. Weinberg is currently a member of the Commercial Law League of America; the Ohio Creditors’ Attorney Association (Educational Chairperson); Cleveland Bar Association Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section; and Northern Ohio Credit Association (past president). His community involvement includes board membership of Care Alliance (Chair of the Annual Fundraiser Committee).

Rosemary Taft-Milby manages the Litigation and Defense area in the Cleveland office of Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. She received a BA in Political Science, with honors from University of Louisville in 1978 and a JD from University of Louisville in 1983. A member of the Kentucky, Ohio and Cleveland Bar Associations, Ms. Taft-Milby is licensed in Kentucky and Ohio, and is admitted to practice before the US District Court (Northern District of OH and Eastern District of KY), US Supreme Court, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Taft-Milby is currently a member of the Ohio Women?s Bar Association.
