Victims of militant violence in Israel filed a multibillion-dollar lawsuit in federal court on Tuesday accusing Arab Bank of supporting Palestinian suicide bombings, lawyers said.
Attorneys for plaintiffs said the Jordanian bank was complicit in a “campaign of genocide” by converting funds raised in Saudi Arabia into U.S. dollars and moving the money to branches in the West Bank and Gaza, where it is withdrawn by families of militants and by the militant group Hamas.
The suit was the second lodged against the bank, based in Amman, Jordan, with more than 400 branches in 25 countries. An earlier suit relied on a 1990 anti-terror law that lets U.S. citizens seek justice from terror financiers.
