TransUnion will host its customers today at the first annual Healthcare Revenue Cycle Platform (HRCP) User Conference in Plantation, Florida. The gathering will help TransUnion and its customers better understand how healthcare organizations are leveraging the HRCP to reduce uncompensated care and gain efficiencies in their revenue cycle management processes.
“We are excited to be bringing the industry together for two days of networking, learning and information sharing,” said Marty Callahan, vice president of TransUnion Healthcare Information Services. “The purpose of this event is three-fold: it will offer attendees valuable information about current industry trends and best practices, solicit feedback about usage of the HRCP and provide information about new features being added to an upcoming release.”
Specifically, the agenda includes sessions focused on maximizing the benefits of the HRCP, as well as round table discussions on “Financial Screening at Point of Service,” “Case Management Utilization and Best Practices” and “Report Utilization and Best Practices.” Attendees also will hear from TransUnion subject matter experts about incorporating data analytics to enhance revenue cycle performance. The session will conclude with an outlook on the future of the HRCP and an open discussion.
The Healthcare Revenue Cycle Platform automates key steps of the revenue cycle, assisting in reducing manual processes, increasing efficiency and decreasing uncompensated care. Along with verifying patient information to help reduce fraud, the service automatically matches patients with Medicaid, SCHIP (State Children’s Health Insurance Program) and other public assistance programs, calculates charity care and self-pay discounts, and accelerates the process for application submission.
TransUnion also announced today that it will lead an Audio Webcast facilitated by the Healthcare Financial Management Association on May 11 from 2:00-3:45 CDT. The session titled “Strategies and Tools for Balancing Legal and Financial Operating Goals” will provide attendees with insight regarding current issues that are impacting healthcare organizations. Valley Medical Center, a current user of the HRCP, will present a case study highlighting the strategies and tools it has used to proactively address these issues.
The impetus for the Webcast is the many state laws being proposed which would establish standards for providing charity care to underprivileged and self-pay patients. “This is a critical issue in our industry,” added Callahan. “In addition to our targeted services, TransUnion is committed to providing education and best practices to help our customers meet their charity care requirements and provide first-rate service to the self-pay population.”
