Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. (WWR), a creditors? rights/collections law firm, recently announced that its employees set an internal fund-raising record of $17,904.48 in support of the March of Dimes? WalkAmerica 2004. The March of Dimes is just one of the many charities that WWR supports each year.
Since March, WWR employees from all nine offices raised money for the campaign through walk sponsor dollars, cook-offs, money jugs, raffles, and various other fundraising activities. On a weekly basis, employees participated in ?blue jeans for babies? days, where they made donations for the privilege to wear casual clothes to work. Over 95 employees from WWR?s Burlington (NJ), Brooklyn Heights (OH), Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Grove City (OH), Philadelphia and Pittsburgh offices signed up to participate in the actual walk in their respective cities. The walks took place the last week of April and the first week of May.
?Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co. L.P.A. has been supporting the March of Dimes for several years, not just locally but firm-wide,? said Sara Donnersbach, firm coordinator for the March of Dimes. ?Over 800 firm employees collected donations and competed in other fundraising activities to help the March of Dimes. While partnering with the March of Dimes, our employees not only have a lot of fun, but they give their time, talent and funds to help save babies and raise public awareness of the problems associated with premature births. Supporting this charity promotes firm-wide volunteerism, and brings our employees together for more than just routine work. It?s a positive experience all-around!?
WalkAmerica, which celebrated its 34th anniversary in April of this year, is the nation?s oldest walking event and the March of Dimes? largest fund-raiser. Funds raised through WalkAmerica support lifesaving research and innovative programs that save babies from prematurity, birth defects, low birth weight, and infant mortality.
?WWR’s philosophy is to recognize our success by giving back to the communities in which we live and work by supporting worthwhile causes,? said Alan Weinberg, managing partner of the firm. ?We demonstrate this philosophy by our commitment to volunteerism and charitable giving by the firm and all of its employees. The partners of the firm set the example by their own commitment of time and money to these causes. The firm encourages and rewards its employees for their contribution to making this philosophy a reality.?
