Fannie’s Investment Portfolio Contracts in January

Fannie Mae’s investment portfolio contracted in January for a third straight month on high liquidation and lower purchases, the No. 1 U.S. mortgage finance company said on Tuesday.


Fannie Mae, rocked last year by an accounting scandal that led to a management shake-up, said its investment portfolio shrank at an annualized rate of 16.8 percent for January, versus December’s 10.1 percent decline.
