The Association of Credit and Collection Professionals – introduced its first certification program for student loan collection professionals.
Developed by industry professionals, ACA?s Higher Education Collector Specialist Program is designed to improve competency and professionalism by focusing on the special knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in higher education collections.
?This certification program will provide college and university collection employees, as well as third-party collectors, with the opportunity to receive appropriate recognition for their skills and professionalism,? said David Glezerman, director of student loan receivables at Temple University and co-developer of the certification program.
The certification program consists of a one-day educational seminar taught by leading industry experts. During the seminar, attendees will learn important information on industry-regulated loans as well as higher education accounts receivable techniques, such as regulatory terminology, payment deferment, loan counseling and default rate calculations. Attendees will also be briefed on litigation requirements for student loan collections.
Following the educational seminar, participants will be given an exam consisting of 100 questions regarding the student loan collection industry. Those participants who earn a passing grade on the exam and have completed ACA?s Certified Collector program will receive certification.
?Certification through the Higher Education Collector Specialist Program assures officials that you, the collection professional, are familiar with new regulations and new student loan issues,? said Mike Walter, ACA?s Government Services Program director. ?Earning this designation demonstrates your commitment to improving your personal professionalism and dedication to the industry.?
