Columbia Ultimate, the leader in full-service collections management solutions, and its public sector business unit, Revenue Plus, launched a new education initiative to help government agencies improve collection efforts.
The program is designed to help government entities collect on the millions of dollars lost each year in unpaid assessed taxes, court fees and fines, parking tickets and related debt. A series of seminars attracted government revenue recovery professionals in Alexandria, Va., Towson, Md., and Philadelphia, Pa., and will serve as the basis for the new initiative.
“Our industry (government collections) faces an ongoing battle to stay on top of debt collection. Revenue Plus’ software has helped us organize our processes and more efficiently increase our revenue stream,” said Gary Sabean, assistant deputy treasurer for the County of Arlington, Va.
Past seminar topics have included: compliance, best practices, process improvement, collection software, new technology, skip tracing, lien processing, print outsourcing and bankruptcy processing. In addition to the experts at Columbia Ultimate, collection professionals in the field – John Marley, the assistant director of the Central Collection Unit from the State of Maryland and Gary Sabean, assistant deputy treasurer of the County of Arlington, Va. – have given first-hand insight on their experiences and best practices.
“There’s a tremendous amount of frustration and demand for new solutions in the government collections industry and we hope to alleviate that with our education initiative,” said Bruce Randall, vice president of Revenue Plus.
