Small Businesses a Target for Credit Card Processor

The cost of processing credit card transactions isn’t at the top of most business owners’ minds. At least, not until they start racking up big expenses for a service that’s often an afterthought.

“We paid exorbitant prices last year in credit card fees,” said Peggy Klopp, an administrative assistant with Camp Washington-based Hilvers Catering. “It got to the point where we wondered if we should even take credit cards.”

Two former Fifth Third Bank employees are going after that small-business market in launching their own payment processing firm. Tom DeBord and Ryan Rybolt started Innovative Financial Technologies, known as Infintech, in January.
