GENESEO, N.Y. – Coast Professional, Inc. (Coast) presented a check for $13,060 to Make-A-Wish® Western New York (Make-A-Wish) at Coast’s New York offices this week. Coast’s donation is a result of Coast’s dress down for charity program in which employees donate $20 or more for the option to wear jeans and business casual attire for the month. This donation includes the employee contributions from Coast’s Geneseo, NY and Henrietta, NY offices and the company match of up to $1000 per office. In order to allow staff from both offices to participate in the check presentations, separate events were held in each office on May 10 and 11.
The employees of Coast selected Make-A-Wish to be the recipient of the charity dress down program for the months of March and April as a result of the impact that Make-A-Wish has in the local area. The employees vote bimonthly for the charity that will receive the donations raised through the dress down program for the upcoming period.
All proceeds from the event will benefit local families and help support Make-A-Wish Western New York’s mission to grant the wishes of children faced with the strain of a critical illness and transform lives one wish at a time. On average, Make-A-Wish grants 70 wishes annually in the Greater Rochester area. Wishes come in all shapes and all sizes, but typically fall into one of five categories – I wish to go, I wish to be, I wish to meet, I wish to have, I wish to give.
Make-A-Wish helps children and their families imagine a world beyond illness. Research shows that children who have received a wish had more positive emotions and those emotions led to better medical outcomes. Medical professionals consider Make-A-Wish as part of their plan of care and know that a child has a better chance of beating their illness if they have emotions of anticipation and joy from a wish, giving them strength to continue fighting.
Brian Davis, CEO and Co-Chairman of the Board commented on the donation, “Part of Coast’s mission is to inspire an appreciation of charity throughout our organization.” He continued, “It is incredibly rewarding to see our staff come together and support the efforts of a local organization that has a profound impact on children and families in the Greater Rochester area. We are incredibly proud to be able to present this donation to Make-A-Wish Western New York.”
