The Democratic Attorneys General Association held its spring policy forum from May 7-9 in Seattle. The event attracted more than a dozen state attorneys general and candidates running for the office this fall.

ACA International was represented at the forum by Director of State Government Affairs Andy Madden as well as Connie Campanella, Steve Arthur and Dusty Brighton of Stateside Associates. ACA continues to work with DAGA and the Democratic attorneys general to educate them on the credit and collection industry’s efforts to modernize the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

During the forum, the attorneys general discussed issues including consumer protection initiatives, the implementation of the Affordable Care Act and mechanisms being used to identify and combat patent trolls. Keynote speaker Gary Locke, a former governor of Washington and ambassador to China from 2011 to 2014, discussed the working relationship between attorneys general, governors and legislators as well as the current state of U.S. economic relations with China.

The Republican Attorneys General Association will convene its annual policy forum in June 2014, and the National Association of Attorneys General will convene a meeting of consumer protection staff in May in Washington, D.C. ACA will be attending both of these events.
