Suburban Washington, D.C., law firm Wolpoff & Abramson LLP plans to set up offices in Brighton, NY and create as many as 100 jobs within three years.
The firm, whose headquarters are in Rockville, Md., was approved for sales tax exemptions Tuesday by the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency.
Wolpoff & Abramson, which focuses on debt collection for large national retail and banking clients, employs 850 in Maryland and in branch offices in five other states, representatives said. The firm wants to expand into New York. It looked at sites on Long Island before deciding on Rochester.
The Rochester call center and collection office on the third floor at 300 Canal View Office Park initially will employ 15 to 35 before expanding to 100, representatives said. Its staff will include attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff.
