Texas law firm Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP has shown its appreciation for teachers by making a substantial donation to Adopt-A-Classroom. Adopt-A-Classroom is a national nonprofit organization that provides teachers with community partners and funds to purchase critical resources for their classrooms.
?Supporting Adopt-A-Classroom is the best way that we can demonstrate how much we value teachers,? says Mike Vallandingham, Partner and National Marketing Director for the law firm. ?Each one of us has had a teacher that has influenced us in some way. Teachers today are not getting the recognition and support they deserve.?
Vallandingham hopes to create more awareness for the organization in our local community. ?Everyone should consider adopting a classroom. It is incredible how much of a difference you make in the lives of teachers and students.?
According to a recent survey conducted by the National Education Association, public school teachers spend an average of $1,200 of their own money each year to meet basic classroom needs. This equates to approximately $4 billion in out-of-pocket expenses that teachers nationwide incur on an annual basis.
With its donation, Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP joins Adopt-A-Classroom?s prestigious Board of Trustees as a means to help teachers and relieve them of their out-of-pocket expenditures. To date, Adopt-A-Classroom has raised over $3 million for classrooms and has helped over 3,600 teachers across the country. The impact has improved the learning experience for approximately 215,000 K-12 public school students.
Adopting a classroom entails a $500 donation per classroom. One hundred percent of the donation is passed through to either the classroom of one?s choice or an underserved classroom in our community selected by the organization. Teachers use the funds to purchase hands-on learning manipulatives that transform their classrooms into exciting centers for learning. Donors get to correspond directly with the classroom teacher and Adopt-A-Classroom sends itemized reports detailing exactly how the teacher used each dollar.
