In the headlines this afternoon, U.S. consumer sentiment fell during April, as rising oil prices and the threat of inflation worry Americans.


According to the University of Michigan, consumer sentiment fell to 88.7 in mid-April from 92.6 in March, its lowest reading in 18 months. The dip was greater than the decline for which economists were looking. The indexes for both current and expectations also declined. Economists caution however that surveys aren’t always a good predictor of consumer spending.
