Washington Mutual, the largest U.S. savings and loan, said on Wednesday it will shift its debit card business to MasterCard International from Visa.


The Seattle-based company said it will start issuing debit cards with the MasterCard brand at the end of 2005, when it expects to complete the conversion from Visa to MasterCard.


No terms for the agreement between Washington Mutual and MasterCard were disclosed.
