Mortgage lenders, starting on Thursday, must now make public new information about the prices they offer on home loans, data that could be used to hunt for discrimination in lending practices.


Low-income housing advocates have already begun assessing the new data sets, which for the first time will include both race and gender information about the borrower as well as data on mortgage prices offered.


Many groups analyzing the data said it was still too early to draw conclusions, and that they had not yet received all of the information for all metropolitan areas and lenders.
