H&R Block Inc., the largest U.S. tax preparer, on Friday said a federal judge had blocked a proposed $360 million settlement of a lawsuit over loans given in anticipation of tax refunds.
In a regulatory filing, H&R Block said the so-called Carnegie settlement was terminated as a result of the judge’s action which means the parties to the litigation will be returned to their status as if the agreement was never made.
