DALLAS ? TNB Card Services has gained the credit card processing business of three more credit unions, the company announced today. The new clients, federal credit unions in Michigan, Oklahoma, and Texas, have moved their credit card programs from other processors to TNB to take advantage of TNB’s wide range of processing services, competitive products, and quality client service.
The new processing clients are WySouth Federal Credit Union of Wyandotte, Michigan; Dowell Federal Credit Union of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Shell Federal Credit Union of Deer Park, Texas.
“These three credit unions, the latest to move to TNB from other processors, have in common a desire for a higher level of service and broader product options,” said Glen Lee, first senior vice president, TNB Card Services. “They chose TNB for those reasons and because we are owned and directed by credit unions. They know that by partnering with TNB they will benefit from world class products and a partner who fully supports their goal of a better card program for their members.”
WySouth Federal Credit Union, based in Wyandotte, Michigan, is a 54-year-old credit union that got its start as a hospital and government organization. It is now community chartered to serve 15 cities in Wayne County. WySouth has nearly 11,000 members and $28 million in assets.
The credit union moved to TNB for processing because it wasn’t happy with the level of service that it was receiving from its former processor, said Carma Peters, CEO of WySouth. TNB’s competitive pricing and her past experience with TNB were the deciding factors among the four replacement processors that WySouth considered.
“I worked with TNB when I was with another credit union, and I knew about their outstanding service,” Peters said. “I have worked in the credit union industry a long time, and when you find a vendor who gives you outstanding service, you want to hang onto that relationship. We are looking for TNB to add card products for our members that will make us competitive again.”
Dowell Federal Credit Union of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a 43-year-old organization that serves employees of Schlumberger, HydroChem, Chandler Instruments, Process Manufacturing, and other select groups, along with their families. The credit union has 4,800 members and assets of $16.5 million.
When Dowell began searching for a new processor, explained Kelly Harker, operations manager for the credit union, “We looked at different companies, and got very good feedback about TNB. Also, they were more convenient to us for training purposes, and we liked the fact that they are owned by credit unions,” she said.
Harker said Dowell is looking to TNB to offer Platinum cards to its members and help Dowell promote and grow its card program.
Shell Federal Credit Union of Deer Park, Texas, was chartered in 1937, originally serving employees of a Shell refinery. The credit union is now community chartered, serving the Houston-area communities of Deer Park, Pasadena, and LaPorte. It has 35,000 members and assets of $234 million.
Concerned that Shell’s credit card program was stagnant, the credit union decided to look into new processors, said John Myers, vice president of administration for Shell Federal Credit Union. Because he had previously worked for the Texas Credit Union League, Myers knew TNB?s reputation for service and support, and that helped Shell make its decision.
“Their price and support were the driving factors,” Myers said of TNB. “They have good products and good people, and they can offer long-term opportunities for our program. We want to become more competitive, but we were limited in our program options with our former processor. Our options are wide open with TNB.”
