Koreans spent the largest amount of money ever in foreign countries in the first quarter of the year despite the prolonged economic slump caused by weak private spending.


The Bank of Korea (BOK) reported yesterday that overseas credit card spending by Koreans reached a record high of $790 million in the first quarter, up 27.6 percent from a year ago.
