MADRID – Spain’s second largest bank Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria is in talks to buy Mexico’s largest specialist mortgage lender Hipotecaria Nacional, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.


Citing an executive familiar with the matter, the paper said talks had not concluded but an agreement could be reached within days. It said Hipotecaria Nacional had a book value of 140 million euros ($170.6 million).
