Greg Lorenz had a good feeling Saturday afternoon.
After two hours of interviews and informational workshops, the 24-year-old from Big Flats, NY wore a smile on his face as he walked out of Saturday’s job fair at General Revenue Corp.
Lorenz lost his job in November when The Red Room restaurant in Elmira went out of business. He’s been working for a temp agency but is looking for something more stable.
He thinks he’ll be a natural fit at General Revenue Corp. and hopes his job search will come to an end next week, when the company finalizes the hiring of 45 new collection recovery specialists.
“Jobs in this area are hard to come by,” Lorenz said Saturday. “So you have to take every shot out there.”
Lorenz was among the hundreds of locals who turned out Saturday morning for the heavily-advertised job fair. By noon, more than 200 applicants had met with General Revenue Corp.’s human resources and leadership teams.
When the fair ended at 6 p.m., more than 350 had passed through the company’s doors. Some, like Lorenz, lived only a few blocks away, while others came from as far as Sayre, Pa.
