The U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department on Monday set dates for closed-door meetings with industry and consumer groups to discuss mortgage regulations, a year after shelving its last effort to change the rules.
The announcement sets the stage for a battle over changing regulations under the 1974 Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, or RESPA, which could impact the mortgage and real estate industries, as well as settlement services.
