Idaho Republican Sen. Mike Crapo on Tuesday said he wanted to quickly move legislation to give banks regulatory relief, and asked federal supervisors to speak up if they oppose proposals now on the table.

Crapo told banking regulators at a Senate Banking Committee hearing that he wanted to hear from them by July 1 about any provisions under consideration that they oppose.

“In other words, I’d like you to at least tell us the provisions to which you have an objection,” he said.

While regulators agreed, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Vice Chairman John Reich said the time frame was aggressive. The acting head of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Julie Williams, said her agency still does not have the full text of some proposals, and therefore cannot review them.
